Technical Tips from Mark W. Persons

FM RF Low-Pass Filter

A client came to us with a problem where his FM translator was causing interference to a 450 MHz two-way radio system.
The solution was to attenuate the translator's RF harmonic in the 450 MHz communications band to a much lower level.
We used a Broadcast Concepts low pass filter board in an RF tight box with N connectors.

The specifications are listed on one side of the filter and they are fairly impressive.  We custom build this kind of item on a regular basis.
This one is for up to 250 watts
and went to the client for $236, including a high quality N to N jumper cable.
Filters for up to 800 watts can be built in a similar fashion.

The stories go on and on.  Stop in again sometime.  I'll leave the soldering iron on for you.
