Raise/Lower Motor Assembly

Built by M. W. Persons and Associates, Inc.

Made in Minnesota

These are raise/lower motor assemblies for a Collins 830 5/10 KW FM Transmitter.  The one on the left is a failed motor that was factory original back in the 1960's.  The motor looks very much like a phonograph turntable motor geared down to 1 revolution per minute.  It did not have any limit switches to avoid problems with the large wire-wound resistor that it turned in the transmitter.  The resistor is in the screen power supply and is adjusted to maintain normal operating power.

The two motors on the right are new custom built replacements for the one on the left.  Two are shown so you can see both sides of the new assembly, which uses a Hurst 120 VAC/1 RPM motor.  The new assembly has limit switches, which are the black colored devices on the center motor.  The new assemblies were created as near drop-in replacements for the original motors.  The motor mounting plates are made of 1/8 inch aluminum and are 3 1/2 inches square.  $500.00 each.
