Engineer's Log
Keeping Stations Legal

Tuesday, May 2, 2017:  Arvid Sonstelie stopped by.  He was inspecting radio stations in the area.  Arvid was a television engineer in Moorhead, Minnesota until his partial retirement.  Nowadays he is a "mock" inspector for the Minnesota Broadcasters Association.  As such, he inspects radio and television facilities.  When a station is found to be in full compliance with FCC rules and regulations, it is issued a certificate to hang on the wall.  A notice is sent to the FCC saying there is no need to inspect this station for the next two years unless there is a specific complaint.  Stations pay for the inspection and it is money well spent because deficiencies are often found and then corrected during the course of the work.

The stories go on and on.  Stop in again sometime.  I'll leave the soldering iron on for you.
