Engineer's Log of Mark W. Persons
AM RF Switch

Monday, September 22, 2014:
Just completed a project to put a used RF contactor in an 18" x 18" x 8" electrical enclosure.  The goal was to provide 5 KW AM main/auxiliary transmitter switching for KKCQ Radio in Fosston, Minnesota.  Also included in the box is a Delta toroid sample for a Delta TCA Ammeter and an arc-gap to protect the toroid during a lightning strike.  The 240 VAC solenoid coils on the contactor are controlled by relays with 24 VDC from the control panel, shown below the enclosure and in the image below.
There are transmitter interlock contacts to allow only one transmitter to be turned on at a time until the "Test" switch if flipped up.

Just another project for a client.

The stories go on and on.  Stop in again sometime.  I'll leave the soldering iron on for you.
