Engineer's Log of Mark W. Persons
Hamfest in Duluth/Superior

Saturday, May 4, 2013:

Mark and Paula were in Duluth, Minnesota, overnight.

They were delayed just a bit by this boat entering the harbor.

It is the Lee A Tregurtha.

Launched in during World War II in 1942, she is a tanker with a 29,360 ton capacity. Her 826 feet length is driven by an 8000 horsepower diesel engine.

This is an international port.  Ships from all over the world go under this bridge to load and unload cargo.

The Dynamic Duo of Mark W0MH and Paula W0HA attended annual Arrowhead Radio Amateur Club Hamfest in Superior, Wisconsin.

(l-r) Nancy and Harold Bramstedt, Paula, and Mark Persons.

The Bramstedts are long time friends who hale from Grand Marais, Minnesota.

Married over 50 years, they always have plenty of used electronic parts to sell or trade at an event like this.

Paula and Mark had lunch at the Anchor Bar in Superior, Wisconsin, with long time friend Bill Meys (back middle)

Bill is a mostly retired radio broadcast engineer who lives in Superior.

He and Mark worked on many radio broadcast transmitters over the years.

Always good to see him.

Fishermen in the harbor were busy tending their nets while birds were looking for a handout.
Ducks were seen in the downtown are of Duluth looking for food.

They do well by humans passing by.

The stories go on and on.  Stop in again sometime.  I'll leave the soldering iron on for you.
