Engineer's Log of Mark W. Persons
Transmitter Picked Up

Friday, June 21, 2012 Long time friend and customer Rick Keefer stopped by.  He has been in radio most of his life and is now General Manager at KICA Radio in Clovis, New Mexico....about 60 miles from the famed Route 66.  Rick is an on-air person too so he cupped his ear as would have been the case with radio announcers of 60 years ago.
Rick was here to pick up a rebuilt QEI 5000 watt FM broadcast transmitter.

The transmitter was repaired, retuned to 105.5 MHz, and was tested into a dummy load in the MW Persons shop.

He liked the front panel and its user-friendly design.

He examined the 3CX3000A7 grounded grid triode design and its somewhat unusual design, which is easier to change tubes in than some other transmitters on the market.
After the 800 pound transmitter was aboard his car, he left....a happy guy.

Drive safely, Rick.

Quote of the day: Always good having customers visit.  Mark

The stories go on and on.  Stop in again sometime.  I'll leave the soldering iron on for you.
