Engineer's Log of Mark W. Persons
Another Transmitter to Rebuild and Retune

Wednesday, May 30, 2012

Mark was at KXRA AM/FM & KXRZ Radio in Alexandria, Minnesota.  While there he picked up a used QEI FMQ-5000 FM Transmitter.

This 5000 watt FM transmitter was loaded into the "Behemoth" van of M. W. Persons by a crew from the radio station.

Only 800 pounds in weight, it didn't take long for those dedicated souls to get the job done.

Just three hours later, it was off loaded at the M. W. Persons facility.  (l-r) Mark Persons, Architect Paul Hirst, and Doctor Ross Bengston.

The joke was that they resembled the remark, "weak minds and strong bodies."  I don't think so!

It sure is great to have friends.  Thanks for their help in getting this transmitter on the floor safely.

The plan is to go through the transmitter with a fine tooth comb to fix problems and retune it to another FM frequency before it goes to Clovis, New Mexico.

Quote of the day: The list of projects never ends.  Mark

The stories go on and on.  Stop in again sometime.  I'll leave the soldering iron on for you.
