October 11, 2008: The sun breaks through clouds over Lake Superior shortly after sunrise in Duluth.  The famous Aerial Bridge is starting another day at the head of the lakes.
In Duluth and on the north shore of Lake Superior is a memorial to Vietnam veterans.  It overlooks the lake much like a bunker overlooked jungle areas in that far away country so many years ago.  The memorial is a tribute to those from the local area who fought there and for those who died there.
On the back are insignias for the five branches of the U.S. military.  The American flag and POW (Prisoner of War) flag fly above on this less-than-hospitable day in October.

An inscription there reads, "You Will Never Be Forgotten."

Inside the memorial are windows overlooking the lake.  A lake boat can be seen in the left window heading for the Aerial Bridge.

.

It is the American Victory.  One of the oldest on the lakes, she was built as a tanker in 1943 during the middle of World War II.  This mighty ship is 730 feet long and still flies the American flag.  Lead on!
The Victory heads through Duluth's famous Aerial Bridge.
