The Christensen Radio broadcast facility is located just west of the city of Pipestone, Minnesota on Highway 30. A
9,000 watt KLOH AM Stereo signal emanates from two
towers at this location. We built a complete antenna phasor system for the station in 1991 replacing their original 1000 watt system. KISD FM and KJOE FM audio signals are fed from here to the Chandler tower site
about 20 miles to the east. The K-L-O-H call letters were picked to represent "Land Of Hiawatha." A road sign at the edge of town says the population is 4384, but there is a terrific school system in town with a new high school that is excellent. Pipestone is also the home of the Pipestone National Monument. |

Mark and Paula stopped at KLOH Radio in Pipestone, Minnesota, in May 2011 and visited with Diane Marie who has been an air personality there for more than 25 years. Mark started doing broadcast engineering work for the station just before Diane's first child was born. Now both of her children are grown-up and on their own in the world. My how times flies! |

foot tower site near Chandler, Minnesota. The antenna was tuned with the aid of a return
loss bridge connected to an IFR A-7550 Spectrum Analyzer and tracking generator by M.
W. Persons. The test setup is connected to a notebook computer, which captures measurement
data for future reference. Wally Christensen was inducted into the Broadcasting Hall of Fame on October 10, 2009. Congratulations, Wally! |

Hundreds of wind generator towers dot the landscape near Pipestone, MN. Each one will generate a half-megawatt of power or more under favorable wind conditions. The newest ones make over two megawatts. |

A wind generator tower was erected near the KLOH AM directional antenna. See how this problem was handled. |
