March 29, 2010: WXYG Radio, Sauk Rapids, MN, is under construction. It is planned to be a 540 KHz station with 3 towers day/250 watts and four towers night/250 watts. Since 250 watts on this frequency roughly equals the coverage of 50 kilowatts at 1600 KHz, this station should be heard for a ways. On the left is a Nautel ND-1 Transmitter recently retuned by M. W. Persons. The phasor is just to the right of the equipment rack and there is a Gates BC-1G Transmitter on the far right also recently retuned. |

Here is
Mark Persons again in the back of the day portion of the phasor.
This will be the fourth AM station using the seven towers on this site. The other stations are WBHR 660, WVAL 800, and WMIN 1010 KHz. |

As it
turns out, there were some good photo opportunities while on site.

Because
your intrepid engineer doesn't sleep well while on the road, he caught
this sunrise photo looking in the same general direction the next
morning, March 30th. This time, four of the seven towers are
visible in the photo.
